Primary limit switch that interrupts the heating circuit when temperatures exceed safe limits to prevent overheating. Replacing this switch restores the appliance's temperature safety control and helps return normal heating behavior. What it does:

  • Monitors temperature and breaks power to the heating element when the preset limit is reached.
  • Acts as a safety cutoff to help prevent overheating and related damage.
  • A failed-open switch commonly causes no heat or intermittent heating.
  • A failed-closed switch can allow excessive heat or repeated thermal trips.
What's included: One primary limit switch. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing to avoid shock or injury.
  • Note terminal locations and wiring before removal; reconnect each wire to its original terminal.
  • Handle the part and terminals carefully to avoid damage; secure fasteners firmly but do not overtighten.

Hello Paul. First disconnect the power to the unit. You will need to uninstall the oven to change the switch. It is located on the back of the unit. You will need to remove the back panel to access this part. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. It should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
