By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18054720
Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10271610

This water level pressure switch senses air pressure from the tub and tells the control when the correct fill level is reached. Replacing a failed switch restores accurate fills and helps the washer advance through wash, rinse, and spin.

  • Monitors tub water level via attached pressure hose and opens/closes contacts to control the inlet valves
  • Helps stop filling at the proper level and signals the cycle to continue
  • A failed switch can cause constant filling, underfilling, stoppage at "sensing/fill," or failure to advance to wash/spin
  • Intermittent or incorrect water levels may also result from issues with the pressure hose
What's included: 1 water level pressure switch Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and turn off water supply before servicing
  • Access the control/console area to reach the switch
  • Transfer the pressure hose and wire connectors to the new switch; ensure the hose is seated tightly with no kinks or cracks
  • Secure the switch in its bracket or twist-lock mount; reassemble and test a fill cycle

Hi Joe. If Your washer water valve is OK, then check where the fill hoses are connected to the Water valve. There are screens in the water valve inlet that need to be cleaned. Use a bucket and flush out your hoses. If all of this turns well and there are no fault codes then you must be OK. Any front load washer will detect the "Load" in the tub and how much the motor has to work to turn the tub. If it is "empty", Then it is programmed not to use much water for energy consumption rates. This is all factory set by the manufacture per government guidelines. Years ago it was OK to set the pressure switch the way you desired, but now the screw is back filled with "red wax". If this seal is broken then you have forever voided your warranty. Your water valve part # is WPW10289387. The pressure switch is part # WPW10271610. Hope this helps. Thank you.
