Bill I have an old Whirlpool and have determined that the timer is shot. The replacement part is WP8566184. When I went to install it, I noticed that my current timer has a "BY" (black/yellow) wire in the loom with the "BB" (blue/black) and "V" violet wires that I think are the 120 v circuit. The replacement part does not have a terminal for this wire. Is there a different part number that I need or can I leave this wire disconnected and use the replacement part? From what I can tell, the BY wire is a part of the "guard switch" which if this is a ground could be grounded via a different source.
