Robert for Model Number WGD5300VW0 The timer on our dryer does not advance or shut off, unless we manually dial to the off position. The unit will run when the dial is positioned for it to run, however, it does not move from that position. From the research I've done it appears the timer needs to be replaced. Although, I do not have a meter to run through checks recommended. What are your thoughts. The timer part # is 8566184A
Answer Robert, Set the timer dial in a "timed Dry" setting and allow the dryer to run for 10 minutes, If the dial moves(advances) then the issue is not the timer. It would be in the air flow and/or heat of the dryer. The dryer has to heat properly in order for the timer to advance in a "automatic cycle". The place to start would be at the exhaust vent system and vent hood. Make sure there are no clogs, kinks or blockages in the pipes or hood. Read More...
