Robert, Set the timer dial in a "timed Dry" setting and allow the dryer to run for 10 minutes, If the dial moves(advances) then the issue is not the timer. It would be in the air flow and/or heat of the dryer. The dryer has to heat properly in order for the timer to advance in a "automatic cycle". The place to start would be at the exhaust vent system and vent hood. Make sure there are no clogs, kinks or blockages in the pipes or hood.
