Lou for Model Number WGD5840SW My dryer is 5 years old. The last couple of months to get it to start I occassionaly have to turn the timer dial pushing down on it, while pushing the on button. Other than that it was running fine, now it wont start. The timer ticks but it does sound a little off or weak. Also when I turn the dial to the beginning of a cycle and push the start button, the button will click when I push it. But it only clicks when I turn the dial to the beginning of a cycle, not if I set it in the middle of a cycle. I think it all has to do with something in the timer/control.
Answer Lou, It does sound like the timer may be bad but you will also want to check continuity on the door switch to make sure that it is not bad. With the door closed there should be continuity through the switch. If not then replace the door switch. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, April 3, 2013
