Barbara for Model Number Kenmore 110.82891110 (Washer) When I attempt to select the wash cycle, the knob spins but doesn’t engage the dial. I think I need a new dial (Part 387996) which is no longer available. Or I may just need a new knob. The current one spins endlessly in both directions. It doesn’t seem to engage the dial. Machine works fine otherwise. Any suggestion other than buying a new washer? Thanks for your expertise.
Answer Barbara, based on the information provided, it sounds like the threads of the knob WP3362624 have stripped out. The knob would need to be pulled back enough to be able to unscrew it from the timer shaft. This should allow the threads to be inspected to identify the failure. Read More...
