James for Model Number Admiral Designer Series 22# Model LNC6743A71 My washer will not agitate. It fills, spins, empties etc but does not agitate so does not clean. I have checked everything I could think of and came to the conclusion that there is no voltage leaving the timer to the motor during agitator period. I confirmed that the motor will agitate by jumpering 120 volts to blue wire out of timer to motor agitate start and to yellow wire out of timer to motor agitate fast - during this test the motor did run for agitation. I have two questions - do you agree that this is most likely a timer issue? and second - can you tell from the model number how old this washer is? At $121 for the timer I might be better off purchasing another used machine instead of repairing depending on the age.
Answer Hello James, This does sound like a timer WP35-3841 or a speed switch issue 21001673. This machine is probably in excess of 20 years old but if you like it well enough and it makes no loud roaring sounds during the spin cycle, it may well be worth the repair. The speed switch shows no longer available so you could try the timer and if it doesn't take care of the issue, we will refund the part cost as long as you return it within 365 days of placing the order, as per our return policy.
