By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18019362
Manufacturer Part Number: WP22004380

This timer controls the sequence and duration of your washer's cycles. When its internal contacts wear or stick, the machine can stall or fail to advance. Replacing it restores reliable, automatic cycle progression.

  • Advances the washer through fill, wash, rinse, drain, and spin in the programmed order
  • Sends power to the water inlet valves, drive motor, and drain pump at the correct times
  • Common symptoms include a cycle that won't advance, stops mid-cycle, or only progresses when the knob is turned by hand
  • Also causes cycles to skip steps or run much longer/shorter than expected
What's included: One timer assembly. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off water before servicing
  • Open the control console; remove the rear panel/cover to access the timer
  • Move wires from the old timer to the new unit one at a time to maintain placement; secure the timer with its mounting screws
  • Reinstall the dial/knob if applicable, reassemble the console, and run a test cycle to operation

Answer

Bob, The key thing to know is does it fill when it gets to the rinse cycle. If the unit fills but then stop then it would most likely be a timer issue. If the unit spins after wash but does not fill at the start of the rinse then you will want to check the pressure hose to make sure that it is not clogged and check the cold water supply and inlet valve to ensure that they are working and that the valve screen is not clogged.
