Alan M Phoenix , AZ June 12, 2014 Appliance: Model SHU9922UC Drain hose on bosch dishwasher was leaking due to getting squashed Ordered replacement drain hose, left hand panel of dishwasher removed (remove 2 screws in front left trim panel & friction fit clip at top back then slide up & off. This reveals the O-ring drain hose connection point. You need to remove the retainer block where the hose exits the appliance. Old hose pulls out and new hose pushes in. In the end a very easy installation. Most of the time spoent here is removal & reinstallation of dishwasher back into position - the actual hose swap takes 10 mins Read More... 32 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Erik K Gunnison , CO September 14, 2015 Appliance: Model BOSCH SHU5315UC/U12 Drain pump running until manually shut off The bottom of the dishwasher was full of water leaking from the Heater Assembly. This caused the float to activate the Drain Pump that ran all night and would continue to run even though a CL was showing in the LED that the machine was done with its cycles. The Heater Assembly had a hole burned through the side by the heater element after 15 years of use. Had to disassemble the whole dishwasher to replace the part. Not an easy job but cost 1/4 the price of a new dishwasher and works like new again. Robert P Hilton Head Island , SC March 21, 2014 Appliance: Model BOSCH SHY56A02 PART# 08 6373 WASTE PVC PIPE Dishwasher waste pipe to disposall was "eaten away by mice" approximately 10 inches of PVC pipe! 1. local plumbing store did not have any plastic pipe that might have worked. 2. I fashioned 2 splices, one coming out of the dishwasher, the other going into the disposall. I used a 5 ft section of clear plastic tubing that was just large enough to fit over the 20mm PVC pipe and accept stainless screw type tightening clamps. Great idea? Not! it crimped when I pushed the dishwasher back into its cubby hole. Rule of thumb: "Too clever, too dumb". 3. Google "Bosch dishwasher waste pipe failure". get blog that explains how to get pipe out of dishwasher cabinet. Take of left side panel, not the back panel. The same blog pointed me to a source for the pipe with custom ends that probably only fit this model of Bosch. The blog pointed me to a link to AppliancePartsPros.com exactly to the part. I ordered for ~$21.00 including shipping on Sunday over the internet. Received them on Tuesday. Fixed in 20 minutes after gaining the experience of ~4 hours redoing the electrical connection end closing up the opening from the cubby hole to the outside of the house which was gnawed out by the mice. We caught 5 mice in the process using electrocution style mouse traps. Whew!!!! Jennifer G Princeton , NJ January 22, 2018 Appliance: Model SHX36L05UC/22 Multiple leaks noticed a hole in drain hose but also had some leaking from the door intermittently. I figured a new dishwasher was going to run me $1000, and getting my repair guy out to look at my 11 year old bosch would be $89 (then I'd find out repair cost), so $50 of supplies and an attempt seemed like a good bet. If I had been unsuccessful I was planning to buy a new unit (didn't want to spend $400 repairing an 11 year old machine). Worked with my husband. I replaced the drain hose first. That was very simple. Then we tackled the lower door seal. Watched a few different videos. It was actually not that hard. Just be sure to line it up correctly and then attach the rubber to the bottom of the dishwasher after it's installed. (The old one was disgusting and misshapen, no wonder it may have leaded). Finally, the door gasket, which literally takes 2 minutes total. Much more time was spent cleaning the area after we removed the old one (lots of mineral deposits and other gunk). All told, it took me less than 2 hours for these three repairs as a total novice (have never repaired any appliance ever). I'm happy I did and hope I'll get a couple more years from the machine. And I would not be scared to do another repair on it. Read More... 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 1-2 hours Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers
