Craig Z Laguna Hills , CA January 04, 2024 Appliance: Bosch Microwave HMC80251UC/01 The door slams down when opened. Broken door hinge #00631517 & #00631518 This was a very difficult repair. 1. It was visually easy to spot the broken spring on the door. One was still working, but I decided to replace both of them. 2. The first task was to remove the door from the microwave frame. This was somewhat simple to do, but you will need some clamps on any still-working hinges to make it disengage. 3. The plastic inner door cover then had to be removed from the door frame to get access to the failing hinges. Unfortunately several of the cover fastening clips that hold this to the door frame will break during the removal. And the only way to put it back together properly is with a new cover. I had to use a wide putty knife to remove this cover while being very careful not to scar the stainless steel edging on the door. 4. Removing the Glass cover to get access to the springs is simple and replacing the springs is easy. 5. Reinstalling the inner cover panel is very difficult to align and ensure the clips fasten properly. Along with a rubber seal around the glass that must be carefully put in place with a putty knife while installing the panel. 5. After replacing both hinges and the inner door cover. It was time to reinstall the door to the housing frame. I had to use channel locks to open the hinges and lock them in place with a custom made tool before I could reengage the door onto the microwave frame. Fortunately, this clicked in very nicely for me, as I have much experience in mechanical hinges like this. Note: Take your time. Think it out for each step and ensure you have the proper tools to fix this type of problem. Garrett D Stoughton , MA April 14, 2020 Appliance: Bosch Microwave HMC80251UC/01 Broken hinges Remove door from microwave, if both hinge springs are broken it will come right out. If not you need to fabricate a block 30mmx30mmx5mm to hold the door spring open - (note you'll need two of these for reassembly). Then you have to remove the inside plastic panel from the door. Note this panel is held on by clips which are not meant to allow for removal - many will break during the removal process. It's tedious and frustrating, but it will come off. After that is off remove the glass panel to give access to the hinges, replace what you need to and reassemble door panel - hopefully you have enough plastic clips left to hold panel on. The gasket that goes around glass is tricky, but insert onto plastic inside panel then snap panel in place. You'll need to pry the hinges open using wire through a hole, then insert the aforementioned blocks to hold them open. Insert door hinges back into microwave body and remove blocks.
