Bosch 00702450 Oven Display Repair Kit OEM Part

Visually inspected the elements, they appeared OK so my attention turned to the mechanical relays used to switch power. I found you must order a matched set (kit 00702450) of display board, relay board and wire harness (Bosch AP4929088) to be sure you have compatible parts. All must be replaced as a unit. First turn off the circuit power to avoid injury from the serious 240 VAC. Then remove the microwave decorative frame by using a flat screwdriver under each corner to pry it off. Then remove two vertically oriented screws in the bottom of the oven control panel over the microwave. The control panel hooks into the frame top and is only held by those two bottom screws. I found this to be a two-man job, mostly because I took pictures as I went and cables must be detached to fully remove the panel. When the cable harnesses are detached you may set aside the control panel. The display board may now be removed by three Phillips screws and disconnect the wiring harnesses and set aside. Remove the sheet metal cover to gain access to the relay control board. The relay control board together with its plastic retaining frame is held by a single Phillips screw on the right and plastic posts that clip into the frame on the left. There is so little vertical room to work that I used a 1/4 " ratchet with a Phillips bit for these chores. I found I needed to remove the four Phillips screws retaining the tray upon which the relay control board and several other components were mounted. I was able to partially slide out the tray taking care not to damage other wiring and then slide the relay control board to gain access to the many individual wires connected by push-on clips. At this point I took many pictures so I could remove all the wires and then properly connect the new board. A flat blade screwdriver was used to pry stubborn push-on connectors. From here you just reverse steps using the new kit components to reassemble your stove. Be aware that the new harness and others similar are keyed by a lip on the connector that snaps under the tab of the mating connector. One connector on the new harness is keyed with a missing pin and this together with the tabs will insure proper connection. Good luck. Mine worked fine first try with the added bonus of a brighter display. I took pictures but no way to add them to this how-to. Being careful and not knowing the best way is what made this job take more than an hour.

We had no clear instructions on how or where to replace the motherboard and display panel, which was located horizontally in a 5" high cavity above the stove. Consequently, we took apart the whole front panel in an attempt to gain access, only to find it impossible as every thing was wired pretty tight. We finally figured out to pull out the oven and unscrew the top cover plate. From that point on it was easy to replug the over a dozen wires to the new boards and reinstall them. Had we not unnecessarily dismantled and then reassembled the front panel,it would have been a half hour job. We reinstalled the oven, turned on the breaker and it works again. Anyone handy and with some common sense can do this job and save $500 bucks or more!
