Peter H Prides Crossing , MA June 05, 2020 Appliance: Bosch Microwave HMC80251UC/01 Bosch 800 series combination oven/speed oven power failure to speed oven/microwave Bosch 800 Series Combination Oven + Speed Oven failure. Installed Nov 2016. May 2020 the speed oven lost all power while the lower oven still worked fine. Searching the web, I saw others have had similar issues that originate with 1 or more of the 3 door switches failing for the speed oven, which then blows the internal fuse. Always flip the circuit breaker off before servicing any electrical appliance. Pull out the oven far enough to access the full top panel. Internal fuses (2) are located under the top panel at the back right corner. In my case it was the left-most 20A microwave fuse (positioned perpendicular to front of oven). There are 2 switches activated by the left door latch and 1 by the right door latch. You can access them with the top panel removed. They are positioned in plastic mounting brackets that can be removed to pull the switches to a better position to work with. The red or green activators should click when pressed and fully return when released. If stuck or no click, it is faulty. In my case it was the green switch at the left side upper position. I also confirmed the switches worked or didn’t with my multi tester. The mounting bracket tabs for the switches are fragile and it will save time to order a new bracket(s) with the switch(es). After replacing the green switch and fuse, connecting everything back up and turning the power back on, the display lit but the # pad and micro functions didn’t work. Shutting everything down and pulling the oven back out, I saw/heard that the left door latch was not fully depressing the lower red switch in the new bracket. If I pushed the door in with pressure it would click, but if I released pressure it popped back up. Everything was positioned as it should, just shy of closing the switch when the door closed. I had to insert a tab spacer that the latch would push to activate the switch. If you have to do this, make sure that the switch opens when the door opens, as this shuts off the microwave when the door is opened. I am disappointed that a $3000 3-1/2 year old oven would have switches that fail this early. The speed oven also suffers from the reported “dim display” issue. When that goes, we likely will detach the speed oven from the lower oven, rebuild our cabinet for the lower oven, and replace the speed oven with a countertop microwave. It won’t be from Bosch. Kurt F Greenville , DE November 05, 2019 Appliance: Bosch Microwave HMC80251UC/01 No power to unit One of the three-door switches had failed. In my case, 00631512 or ref 25217585 on the left front of the unit. The green button no longer "clicked". When that switch fails, one of the ceramic fuses located under the top cover at the far back of the unit is blown. Used Volt-Ohm meter to determine which fuse. Happy to have also ordered a replacement door switch Support, just in case, as I was unable to remove the failed switch from the support without breaking a key brittle plastic tab. Separately, the unit also had a dim display, ultimately discovered unrelated to the loss of power. Had just prior replaced the microwave control panel & electronic control in case that was culprit, but door switch & fuse were a separate problem. I found it easier to access door switch support with the control panel re-removed. Jonathan B Lakeville , MN December 03, 2018 Appliance: Model HMC801252 Bosch HMC801252 microwave oven faulty door switch Had to identify the real issue by reading DIY threads. Found the door switch went bad after 1.5 years. To confirm I had to replace the fuses with the door open, turn the power on and close the door. If the display went out, the door switch is bad and blew the fuse again. Mine did just that. I replaced all three switches and the bracket holding them. Brackets are plastic and will break when removing the switches. After replacing and putting a new fuse, microwave worked again. Ted H Salado , TX August 13, 2020 Appliance: Model MUC80252UC/01 No power to Bosch combination wall oven microwave I found several similar stories on AppliancePartsPros website related to this type of Bosch Microwave power failures, so I called their customer service to make sure that I ordered the correct parts for my repair. The agent was EXCELLENT and went above and beyond by checking all available parts diagrams to verify the parts I needed. Of the 3 switches in the door closing mechanisms one of the 2 on the left side of the microwave (as you look at it) was bad and the 1 located on the opposite side was bad. I needed 2 of the switches with a red button and 1 with a green button. (1 each red+green on left / 1 red on the right). Do get the supports for each sides switches. I ordered both and wound up using one for right side when pin that switch goes on broke. Also the fuse that blows is located in right rear corner of unit (there are 2) 1 was good / 1 bad. In addition to removing top of unit removing control panel allowed better access to switches. A lot of screws to remove but overall an easy repair. Konstantin S Fair Lawn , NJ January 07, 2020 Appliance: Bosch Microwave HMC80151UC/01 Microwave blowing out main line fuse One of the Door switches went bad, so I decided to proactively replace all 3 door switches. Make sure to order support brackets as well, as I think it's impossible to replace switches without breaking the original bracket. For a few $$, it's not worth the hassle. Interestingly, in my case, fuse that's internal to Microwave did not get blown, only main line breaker would get tripped, but I would be doing it again, I would also order spare fuse as well. Here is how I determined that door switch is bad. With MW door open, main breaker would stay ON and MW display would light up. Once the door is closed, main breaker would be tripped, cutting the power to the MW.
