Description

This thermocouple is the flame-sensing safety switch used on gas ranges/ovens. It detects the pilot or burner flame so the gas valve only stays open when a flame is present, helping restore reliable ignition and safe operation. What it does:

• Senses the presence of a pilot or main burner flame and signals the gas valve to stay open
• Stops gas flow when a flame is not detected to prevent unsafe gas buildup
• Common symptom fix: oven or range won't stay lit or the pilot won't remain lit
• Replaces a worn or damaged flame sensor to restore normal ignition behavior
