How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP2116563 / 240505801 Light Switch

Went to the Internet, entered the make and model number, read possible causes, viewed videos on fixes and determined it was probably the socket. Viewed the schematic to determine the correct part number. Ordered a new socket. Received it within three days and in less than 5 minutes replaced the light socket. Problem solved and the light now works. Appreciated the videos, ease in ordering and quick delivery. 

I used a small screwdriver to pry the switch out of the refrigerator. Two wires were attached that were easily removed. No tools to put the new one in. Just plug wires onto the switch and put the switch back in the hole it came from.

Thanks to your helpful video on how to replace the light switch, this 71 year old woman had no problem removing the old light switch and replacing it with your new one. 

We inherited our current refrigerator when we moved into our house ten years ago. The light switch never worked because it didn't mechanically engage properly with the door. So I just slapped a piece of duck tape on it and figured I'd get around to fixing it one day. But I couldn't see how replacing the switch with another one just like it would fix the problem and so I let it slide. Finally, when threatened by my wife with divorce if I didn't fix the stupid thing, I order a new switch from APP. When it arrived I could see that it was mechanically different from the old switch and was hopeful that it would fix the problem. So I popped the old switch out and the new in and...presto!...it works. It took me all of five minutes to fix. Thanks for saving my marriage! :D 

We replaced the switch and the light socket. 

With the new light switch, I still had the same issue of the door not being high enough. The switch is much wider than the one on there. Removal wasn't too difficult, but I work with tools a lot. I ended up lowering the switch housing where the thermostat knobs are, by loosening the screws, cutting up an old hotel key card to make a spacer about 3/8" thick, and using that miracle 3M black double-sided tape. NOW the switch lines up with the door. Idk if the door was lowered somehow after years of use, but lowering the housing works fine and the gap isn't visible unless you're low to the ground. 

Replaced the refrigerator light switch, and the rotary damper to the ice door. Love your DIY videos too!.

I followed the video and found out that I did not need the part but it was a good experience. The bulb socket was dirty so I cleaned it out and it works fine
