How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP4412995 / WR08X10112 Compressor Start Device (Tsd-2)

After reading everybody posting and looking at the parts lists, I troubleshoot down to either the run capacitor or the combo switch. After removing the units ( run capacitor and the combo switch ) which is mounted on the side of the compressor and it is easy to remove by lightly prying on the side. further checking of the run capacity is ok. I order and replace the combo switch and the refrigerator works like new. GE p/n WR08x10112. Appliance AF4412995. 

I just replaced the old one Tsd-2 for the new one by just connected it back to the compressor. And it worked like a charm!!!! It took me between 3 to 4 minutes to fix the problem!! Took me more time by unscrewing the screws from behind the refrigerator to change the part. 

Googled, clicking sound on a GE Profile Ordered and replaced the start device and run capacitor. 

Replaced the compressor start device. 

Could have been either the fan motor or the relay assembly. It was hard to pinpoint, so decided to replace both: the fan motor and the start device+capacitor. The start device + capacitor were very easy to replace. The fan motor was very difficult to change because they assembled the cooling circuit in front of the fan assembly making it impossible to take it out. I had to replace the motor in place with an angled nut driver and working by touch, to get the screws out and back in, fitting my fingers and tools in between the gaps of the cooling circuit. Getting the wires into the slots of the fan assembly was also a pain without taking the assembly out. Very disappointing from GE to have assembled that fridge in a way to make it impossible to get the parts out for repairs. 

I troubleshoot the problem after I read some of the stories. I found it on the site. since the compressor was not running, the problems were either the capacitor or the overload device. Since they are attached together on the side of the compressor, I decided to replace both items, one part came in 3 days, the other came about 10 days because of a backorder. After the parts arrived, I carefully put it in and my refrigerator comes back to life. save me a $1000+ for a new refrigerator or $350 for the hose call. Thanks AppliancePartsPro.

Replace relay and capacitor on the compressor. 

Replaced Tad- 2 and capacitor 

Everything worked after it dried out, but the compressor kept kicking on and off. I replaced the capacitor and combo device and plugged it back in and it immediately kicked the compressor on and began cooling. Thanks AppliancePartsPros.com, saved me some big buck on a new refridgerator.
