How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3860894 / WD12X10189 Check Valve And Hose Assembly

Although that this is a 10 yrs old appliance, I decided to repair it as it is part of the entire set in the kitchen. I used the tips on the videos at AppliancePartsPros site and was easy to replace the parts and fix. Only the Inlet sump was leaking, but I decided to replace all parts that are made with similar material to avoid further problems. I was a good decision as the pump suction tube was showing signs of start leaking. I would suggest AppliancePartsPros make that kind of suggestion on the site. 

Very easy to replace the broken part. Watched the video on your website and it only took 30 mins to complete including removal and replacement of the diswasher. The plastic moulding had a pin hole leak. I have seen a number of these plastic components fail over time. I guess the detergent eventually wears them. 

Replaced worn out parts and gave a 10-year-old dishwasher new life. Saved myself over a thousand dollars in replacement cost. 

Replacement of check valve and drain hose. 

Didn't bother with pulling dish washer out. Laid on floor, took old one out, put new back in. 

Drained dishwasher. Unplugged it, disconnected water supply. After laying it on its side checked pump. It seemed to work as impeller was spinning after I took it apart and reconnected it to power. Decided to replace sump as it was deteriorated as well as flapper valve and check valve and hose assembly. Ordered all as well as drain pump. People at Appliance Parts Pro’s were very helpful. Replaced the first three. Still wouldn’t drain. Checked outlet hose. Clear. Replaced drain pump. Still wouldn’t drain. Saw a brass fitting near sink drain at end of drain hose. Disconnected it and lo and behold it had a flapper (check) valve in it that was stuck. Replaced. All is well. Had no idea someone had installed extra valve. Apparently it is fairly standard, but I’m just a DIYer. Wasted a lot of time but did make some necessary part replacements. I am stuck with the pump though as it is not returnable after being installed. It comes with a flapper valve already so have an extra one. May try to send the flapper valve back. 

I ordered the 4 assemblies that had rubber or plastic parts in the drainage system. After reviewing, pulling out the dishwasher and looking at the underside. While reviewing the videos for each assembly. I narrowed down the list to the 4 I felt were worn out or broken. 

Check valve hose had split. Removed two hose clamps pulled out check valve and hose reinstalled new check valve and hose Titan two hose clamps. Your shipping department is amazing to receive the part two days early thank you very much 

I had to replace 3 parts the sump connector, motor coupler, and check valve. The parts arrived next day air just like they said they would. The instructional video made the repair quick and easy and possible. I had my dishwasher restored in time for Xmas Eve dinner and I couldn’t have been more satisfied! 

Had to disconnect the water feed and power. Naturally I had to pull the dishwasher out and turn it on its side. After that it was just taking off the clamps and electrical connections, replace the parts reconnect and check for leaks as it ran. The sump was a problem because it has to snap in. The strainer inside the machine became dislodged so I had to take apart the inside to reset it into place. The video that you have was great and was a big help.
