How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3995164 / WE1M652 Timer Knob

Purchased replacement knobs and put it in place. I was pleasantly surprised when the knob purchased included the metal insert. My previous knob insert would have been difficult to repair because previous "bandaids" of superglue holding it inside the knob.

Using my hands, I pulled the broken knob from the dryer. I found a new knob available to order from AppliancePartsPros.com. While waiting for the new knob, I used a pair of pliers to turn the dryer on. When the new knob arrived, I unwrapped it and set it into position. It fit. Yay! Now, I use the new knob to the dryer on. 

Easy pop on 

Quick and easy! Popped off the old one and popped on the new one! 

After I pulled the knob off, I could see it was cracked where it fit on the rod that led into the mechanics of the dryer. I used a pair of pliers to turn the rod and was able to get the dryer to work, so I knew my problem was only the cracked knob which would not grab onto the rod and make it turn. 

Had to remove screws from back of the unit....unhook timer switch from dryer body remove old timer knob metal jacket. Hook the timer switch back to dryer body and line up notch on new timer knob with and press onto timer with little force. Place back cover back on dryer tighten screws and done. 

First I unplugged it always smart right....then I placed the unit back in the hole and there was a tiny screw missing that held it in place. I searched and found a screw I could rig it with,then I got on line and found y'all. I was so excited to get the Timer Knob and it worked GREAT:) I was using a pair of pliers to turn the knob but was really worried I might snap the metal post so I was over joyed to get that part so easy and fast!! Thanks very much! 

Ordered replacement knob and used a pair of pliers to remove the metal piece on switch left when old knob broke. Put the new knob on and it works great. Thanks 

This fix took a total of 4 seconds... perfect fit, just stuck it on.
