How to Troubleshoot & Replace Ge AP3995164 / WE1M652 Timer Knob

Received knob and put it on. 

Even with so many choices the description given was perfect. The knob arrived packaged well and was immediately installed in about two seconds 

Replace the timer and knob. 

First removed the control cover thinking that the internal plastic stops for the timer knob broke. (I recently had to replace the console cover because of a broken start button stop which caused the knob to rotate without starting) Stops where all fine. After reading further comments on this issue, I decided to remove and check the timer knob and observed that the shaft was cracked. Ordered a replacement from AppliancePartsPros.com. The part arrived quickly (3 days) regular shipping. Took a couple of seconds to push on to the timer shaft. Dryer works perfectly. (No need to order a metal sleeve; it comes attached with the new knob) 

I simply went on You tube and saw how to repair it. Quite easy and went ahead ordered the parts and made the repair. Saved myself the service call and $$. $70.00 for the parts and about 5 minutes of time. 

Put new dial knob on when it arrived and it works like a charm! 

Pulled off rear metal cover replaced wires one by one and slid it back into the receiver. 

Replaced thermostat and knobs. 

I popped the new knob on; however, it isn't calibrated with the clicks and the appropriate words for each setting - high, low, fluff. 

Replaced Knob it was an exact fit.
