Went online to find a solution to "dryer would not start." Conclusion reached was that timer had failed and could not be turned with the dryer knob. This was listed as a potential "dryer will not start" symptom. Watched video on how to replace the timer. Very straightforward. Ordered new timer and a new knob (old knob had hairline crack in the shaft area). Timer and knob arrived in less than two days. Watched video again. Unplugged dryer and detached dryer vent ducting from the wall. Moved the dryer away from the wall to access the screws at the top back of the dryer control panel. Cleaned dryer vent piping. Removed 3 screws holding the control panel to the dryer control. Removed control panel and laid control panel on dryer top with a towel to protect the dryer top surface from scratching. During disassembly, took photo of timer wire connections and colors with phone. Also labeled color wires A, B, C, etc with their connection terminal labels. Removed wires from old timer, and removed the old timer. Replaced with new timer according to the video directions (slight rotation and lock-in-place feature). Reconnected color wires according to photo. Reassembled control panel of the dryer. Reconnected vent piping and plugged machine into power outlet. Pushed new timer knob onto timer shaft. Rotated timer to a setting and turned the "off-on" knob. Up and running.
