How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5782522 / ABH74219603 Water Dispenser Button

Removed water dispenser housing using thin point kitchen knife insert knife at lower left side of housing twist knife and grab housing with finger nails carefully pulling as you move further along housing .the rest was pretty much easy, use small star screwdriver to remove micro switch.new switch is a little different.upon replacing housing start at the bottom up the sides to the top press firmly until you hear housing snap in tight 

Very easy. The new piece just snapped on. We ordered 3 parts and only needed one. We decided to keep the other 2 just in case. 

I had to replace the entire dispenser cover and button. I had to find the springs because they did not come with a button assembly. 

It snapped right on. Easiest repair ever.

I followed the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUKXF4Fkyeo) which showed exactly what needed to be done and in the correct order. it took less than 30 minutes to complete the fix. The hardest part was removing the old dispenser from the refrigerator door. The video says to use a putty knife to remove the part, however I needed to use a knife and box cutter to get the blade to fit between the part and the door. I ended up breaking some of the tabs on the old part but was more concerned about the being careful of the door. Once that was removed, the rest of the fix was a simple step by step process as depicted in the video. 

I popped off the old one and popped on the new Water Dispenser Button - maybe 15 seconds. 

Removed it and put in new piece 

Replaced switch button assembly. 

Ordered new part. Arrived in a few days. Easy to install.
