How to Troubleshoot & Replace Mcf AP4565008 / 502414000009 Defrost Timer

I ordered a new timer, pulled the refrigerator from the wall, searched the back of it to locate the same part that I had purchased, found it enclosed in a small plastic box in the lower left-hand corner (as I was facing the back), and switched it out with the new one. No Murphy's Law that day. The repair was easy. We have a silent refrigerator once again. 

Found the cause on you site that another had had also. Bought the part and like the other person had said it was fixed in 5 minutes. 

I ordered the part from you (a timer?) and what an easy fix. It hasn't shut off since and stopped running all the time. It is a chef mate refrigerator 

Installed new defrost timer 

Replace timer. 

Replaced defrost timer. Took 5 minutes to install. 

I'll start by saying YouTube has a lot of fix it information. It directed me to the part in question. I was able to reset the part manually but it shut down again. New defrost timer needed. A simple fix. Ordered part and it was deliversed in about 4 days. A 5 minute repair with the use of a Philips screwdriver only. Fridge has been working great since the repair. 

I removed the defrost timing housing and installed a new defrost timer. I first thought it was the compressor going out, that's what it sounded like. But after closer examination it was the timer. Easy fix. Thanks for your great service Appliance Parts Pros.com. 

I turned the defrost timer switch manually everything came on so I replaced defrost timer switch and the thermostat because that was the same age and all was well. 

It sounded like the PTC starter was the problem, but I decided to get a defrost timer as well in case it was bad. The timer is simple to replace. Remove a few screws, disconnect the wires, pop them on the new timer, put the screws back in, and done. I hadn't read any hints about installing the starter. It was easy to put in once I figured out how it attached - two slide-on pins. I used a screwdriver to wiggle the old one off, swap out the wires to the new one and slide it on the pins - the only difficulty is getting your hands into a small space. A flashlight is very helpful. The frig worked fine after I replaced the starter.
