After an appliance repairman said he couldn't fix it because the cartridge was no longer available, I called AppliancePartsPros.com. Not being much of a handyman I ordered the whole 2 coil unit for a simple fix. However, after waiting on backorder for several months, it turned out to be discontinued. Another call to AppliancePartsPros.com, and Wendee D. said I could likely fix it by replacing both burner receptacles. I ordered the receptacles (which showed up the next day !), watched the instructional video, and today -SUCCESS, I have a working stove!!
If I would have just stuck with what the appliance repairman said, I would've been throwing away a perfectly good stovetop, and shelling out $$ for a whole new replacement unit. The receptacles plus 2 new drip pans cost about $150, and the repair took me about an hour.
Thank you AppliancePartsPros.com, and Wendee ! :
