How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6014532 / WP99003446 Door Cable Assembly

New spring and cable 

When realizing the door spring cable hook had broken, being thus unable to remain attached to the door spring, I ordered two new door cable assemblies, since being advised to change both cable assemblies, which I had not done when one side had broken. Then following removal of the two screws attaching the dishwasher to the cabinet, I was able to pull out the dishwasher about a foot, giving me access to hook the new cable assemblies to the door springs and the door hooks. This was an easy fix, even with having to pull the dishwasher out and putting it back in place. 

Simply chatted online with AppliancePartsPros.com who sent a link to order. Part arrived quickly. Also noticed a hose kinked and they showed me how to assemble it too. 

Watched the video provided by the website associated with the parts necessary to fix the door. Then ordered the parts and performed the fix. 

The door cable from APP was an exact match and easy replacement. After searching several restaurant supply stores and appliance stores for a replacement silverware basket for our Maytag dishwasher, all of which were too large. The basket from APP was an exact fit as advertised on the parts page for our machine. 

Just restrung new one.

Shut off the power, shut off the water, removed the kick plate, disconnected the water line and drain line. Had to lower the front leveling feet because we had a new hardwood floor put down after the dishwasher was put in. Pulled the dishwasher out just unhooked and hooked on the new springs, put everything back together and pushed the dishwasher back in.
