How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6983349 / W11429587 Catch

Replaced latch 

Bought new catch 

Ordered a new strike ( just in case the original was worn out) and two new catches to keep a spare on hand. 

Estimates provided to fix it were all over $100 for a call. I went to AppliancePartsPros.com to find the part. Really easy to identify and watched a two-minute video on how to replace it using only a screwdriver. Part cost under $20 (including postage) and showed up 2-3 days later. It took me less than one minute to replace and it works fine now. I don't have to use a suitcase in the garage to hold the door shut anymore. :) 

I ordered your part. It arrived a week sooner than I expected. As it turns out, I was having my clothes washer repaired and the technician offered to put in the latch part while he waited for the washer to run through a cycle. It probably took him 5 minutes to install the new latch. I got lucky. I know it would have taken me much longer even though it looked pretty straight forward. I had reviewed the YouTube video and put it in when it came. So easy and saved myself over a hundred or one-hundred fifty dollars service call. It took less than a minute to install with only a small flat screw driver!!! 

Got the part and replaced the broken one. 

Easy fix, removed the old broken catch and replaced with new one. Easily found on your web site. 

Found the part on AppliancePartsPros.com, ordered it, watched a video on the repair on an attached link, and had the repair completed 2 minutes after the part arrived. Very simple and I never fix anything myself! 

It was simple! I’d already had the latch off of the door so I simply reinstalled took Al of two minutes. No tools required.
