How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008273 / WP3387223 Dryer Moisture Sensor Bar

After double checking that the control board was working, trouble shooting prooved that the thermal fuse failed and I had to replace one of the moisture sensor rails because of damage. Thanks to Applianceparts.com the parts came quickly and my laundry was not delayed. 

I researched the problem here and found out the dryer heater elements to be OK,by replacing the moisture sensor bars and the Thermister our dryer drys clothes in no time like new. We were having to run the dryer 4 times to dry towels at the highest setting wasting energy in a big way. No more dryer babysitting. Easy and cheap repair. 

Over time, my dryer was delivering clothes that were wetter and wetter at the end of any of the "regular" setting though it worked fine on timed dry. Called out the service may who checked the unit and said it was probably a control board costing over $400 that was not refundable even if that didn't fix the problem. Asked several times about moisture sensor but he said that was not the problem. Checking on the web I found the moisture sensor bar at AppliancePartsPros.com. Observed that there were 2 in the dryer and bought a pair. For under $15 including shipping it was worth checking first, even if it didn't work. Instruction video gave clear, easy-to-follow instructions. Parts arrived in a couple of days and replacement was as easy as the video suggested. After replacement, the dryer works as it should. Couldn't be happier with results. Bummed out over paying the service company for bad advice. Will deal with that later. 

Ordered two of these little parts - after noting that the older bars had begin to separate from the (plastic) housing along the door frame. There was also a plastic burning smell. Shipping was fast, significantly I think the price was right, usually a small part like this carries an unrealistic price tag. Replacement was fairly simple, five screws to remove the housing, locate the connectors for the sensors, plug in and replace. Since the repair we have been back to normal with auto cycle, a cheap intervention with exactly the right part needed. Good experience. 

I ordered 2 new moisture sensor bars and replaced them. There was a video on the web site that showed how to do it in a very simple way. Other videos had you take the whole dryer apart and that was not necessary. 

Installed 2 new Moisture Sensor Bars. I watched the installation video on the AppliancePartsPros website and installed the new bars. It was easy and quick! Also ordering the parts was easy and shipping was very quick. The dryer now works great and the clothes dry as expected Thanks guys! 

Our clothes dryer would stop mid-cycle as if it was overheated, and the clothes would not be dry. After waiting a small amount of time, the controls would allow the cycle to be restarted, but this was making the clothes cleaning process take a long time. After researching potential problems, and watching the repair videos on AppliancePartsPro.com, replacing the Dryer Thermister resolved the problem. I also replaced the Moisture Sensing bars in the dryer for good measure, at the same time, and because they were pretty inexpensive (around $3.00 each). Since replacing both items, the dryer has worked properly! 

Thanks to your video on youtube step by step on diferent areas.One thing do they make any parts to stop side big springs that hold the drum(front loaded washer) from wear out the plastic that holds the drum
