How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007948 / WP33001808 Dryer Lint Filter Screen

I bought this washer and dryer combo back in 2000. I did a partial tune-up (drive belt, drum wheels, rub strips, etc.) three years ago. A couple of months ago, the dryer started getting louder while running, and last week, a loud clunking sound occurred when we started it. That's when I decided to take a closer look. Upon inspection, I discovered the mounting boss for the blower wheel was detached from the wheel. So the clunking sound on startup was the wheel banging against the ducting until it settled into a constant rumble. I ordered the parts and received them the next day. The repair took about 15 minutes, and with a working blower, drying time is a fraction of what it had been. And as an added bonus, the dryer is as quiet as it was when new. 

Ordered replacement part for a Maytag dryer which is approximately 20 years old; was concerned that a lint filter replacement might be difficult to get since dryer is so old, but found it available on this website, ordered it, received it within just a day or so, installed it; it fit, and now all is ready to go. Thank you!

First off I absolutely love this store! The parts are exact fit and the “how too”videos make the job much easier. I would have never attempted the repairs without the awesome installation information and videos. I replaced the belt tension pulley and fiber washer, both drum support roller wheels, both tumbler bearings, the drum belt and the lint filter screen. I had ordered the tension spring but the original was in excellent shape with good tension so I did not change it. I also ordered the washers for the drum support rollers (4) before realizing the rollers came with new washers. I will be returning the 4 washers and the tension spring, which makes the replacement repair extremely affordable. The longest part of the repair was cleaning all the accumulated lint and dirt from twenty five years of use! Take your time, watch the videos and this is well within the capabilities of any diy’er with basic tools. The job is easy, just a bit time consuming.

I easily determined the new part needed with model number on the website. I ordered a new part and it was here the next day! I switched the dryer vent and all is well!
