How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6006456 / WP22004435 Latch Assembly (Door)

This is the 2nd time I've replaced the latch assembly. Both times, purchased the part from AppliancePartsPros and followed their instructions. It's a very simple 15 min. job that beats paying for a repair service or buying a new washer. 

Replaced the door latch assembly, a very simple and straight forward task. The part was ordered on a Friday and arrived the next day. It was scheduled to arrive the following Tuesday. Surprised and happy to get it for the weekend wash schedule. Thanks 

I ordered the latch assembly for the door. The part came in 4/25 and I put the part in. It took me 15 minutes to do. The washer is now working very well. 

I took the front panel, door and top off and there was the lock. I replaced the locking mechanism. The unit was a Maytag Neptune washer. It took about 30 minutes. 

Replaced the door latch assembly. Was easy to do. 

Removed door Popped off front cover Removed upper retaining screws Removed detergent dispenser screws and cove Propped open the lid Disconnect assembly plugs Removed assembly retaining screws(2) Remove assembly Install in reverse order Customer service is excellent here 

Ordered the part from Appliance Part Pros, installed it and it works like a champ again 

I really appreciated the on-line video on washer dis-assembly and repair sequence; very helpful. The entire repair took me about 15 minutes and worked 100%. I could have gotten the part a tad bit cheaper on Amazon but I was more than happy to pay a slight bit more due to the helpful website & great service I got from APP. Will use you again if I ever need another repair.
