How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP8058607 / W11778253 Dryer Lint Filter Screen

I ordered a new one. Got it much sooner than expected. 

With the dryer unplugged I removed the back panel by removing the 9 1/4" drive screws. An ohmeter was used to check continuity of the heater coil and cut off switches. Seeing as my dryer is over 20 years old I replaced both of the thermal cut-off switches, I thoroughly cleaned the lint from the blower area and replace the gaskets for the internal duct. After a short test run I found a 3rd cut-off switch on the blower outlet was also failing, I was able to tap it with the handle of a screwdriver to make it work temporarily, and ordered the next failing switch 

I searched online for my over 15 years old lint screen. I was happy to find it on appliancepartspros.com. Now it looks brand new. Thanks so much. 

This was not as much a repair as a replacement. We simply ordered a new lint trap, it arrive in two days, it fit perfectly. 

Installed newly suppled lint screen. Piece of cake 

Ordered a new one. Checked machine for model and serial number. 

I ordered my part using my dryer model number . Part was packaged and delivered as described. The lint filter was a perfect fit and now my dryer is back to work.
