How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008352 / WP3397273 Dryer Timer

REPLACED TIMER. HOWEVER, OLD TIMER HAD A WHITE JUMPER WIRE BETWEEN TWO OF THE TERMINALS. THE NEW TIMER WAS MISSING ONE OF THE REQUIRED TERMINALS. AFTER LOOKING AT TIMERS FROM OTHER WEB VENDORS, I DECIDED I HAD THE ONLY TIMER AVAILABLE. I LOOKED AT THE NEW TIMER AGAIN, AND SAW THAT IT HAD A JUMPER BAR BUILT IN AND THE WHITE JUMPER WIRE WAS NOT NEEDED. I FINISHED INSTALLING THE NEW TIMER, AND THE DRYER WORKS FINE.

Replaced Timer Assy, Took about 10 minutes. Remember to unplug dryer before you start!!!

Installed a new timer. 

Found start button was locking down, but no power for motor was coming out of time. Opened timer and found a contact was burned enough that it did not touch, bent and cleaned it, reassembled and dryer worked. So replace timer, took 2 days to get timer and 10 minutes to replace. 

I've only used the dryer (sensor) once since. I put the timer in the day I got it. It works but once the dryer cycle is finished, no tumbling and stopping. The timer just moves until it hits off. Plus it does not tick anymore. The original replaced was about 21 years old. I just grabbed the timer one day and something snapped. Later found out it was a plastic gear outside of the motor that popped out.

Swapped out old timer. New timer very slightly different ( but perfect fit) and one jumper wire from the old one not needed for the new. Very happy to be able to do this myself, Thanks!!
