How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009019 / WP3976568 Dryer Timer (3-Cycle)

Replaced the timer 

I removed the two Phillips head screws in the front of the control panel, this allowed the unit to lay flat forward so I did not need to pull the dryer from the wall. This allowed me to gain access to the screws that held on the panel, after removing the panel I removed the timer and laid the new timer beside it and transferred the wires to the new timer. Then I replaced everything in the reverse order. Be sure to unplug the dryer first, and I also took the time to clean lint from the control panel area while I was their. 

We replaced the timer. Finding our item on the website was easy and I loved the service drawings with the callout numbers that took me directly to the part I needed to order. Thanks to appliance parts pros and their very helpful repair video, the repair was very easy to complete! While we had the dryer apart, we changed the back drum felt, the pulley, both wheels, and the on/off switch. All bought at Appliance Parts Pros, great videos to help us repair each item. All items were delivered quickly as well! It’s like having a new dryer for 1/3 of the cost of a new one! We Will always use and recommend Appliance Parts Pros

Matched up the part and reinstalled new one 

I got the parts, had the proper tools and watched the videos. I had both switch and time replaced in over an hour. It's easy once you know how to do it AND have the proper tools. The 1/4" nut driver is particularly important. It can be found at any auto parts store. I'm not much into praise and it may sound kind of canned but this all worked for me. Thank you. 

Watched the video on the repair and found the part on the website. The part was $25 cheaper than an I stock part in my area. 

Replaced the timer/controller. 

I very simply replaced the timer. It completely resolved the issue. It was an 8 minute job.
