Ronald M Kihei , HI February 15, 2015 The top portion of the washer was starting to rust When the new part came in, it took a while to figure out how to take the older part out. Bernhard K Winston-Salem , NC July 13, 2016 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer WTW6600SW2 Top was rusting around the bleach dispensing location Had to replace the whole top on the machine. Manufacturer should consider a different style container for the Bleach application. Bleach had attacked the metal and was causing separation of the enamel paint. I feel the Bleach compartment should come fully through on the neck area via a softer type polymer that is resistant to Bleach. When Bleach is added to the fill line or slightly above, the Bleach can attack the metal due to exposure. All openings on the Bleach container need to be eliminated. The rust had also migrated into the the lid hinge. Had to cut the old top to remove the hinge.
