Ordered two new connectors (which were heavy nylon cord attached to plastic connector pieces ).
the replacement parts were delivered on the third day. I removed the dishwasher far enough from the cabinet opening to allow access to the balance springs and these replacement cords. It was an easy fix ! I slid the washer back in proper location and reattached the locking screws.
