Rosemarie H Vero Beach , FL September 26, 2016 A 1985 whirlpool electric range that needed control knobs replaced We purchased a circa 1985 manufactured home in FL a few years back and finally got the chance to move in full time. At last we had the time to deal with some of those annoying little problems that cropped up over the years. Last year we replaced one control knob on the circa 1985 range that was completely broken. We replaced it with a generic item we got at one of the national hardware chains. It didn't even remotely resemble original equipment and it looked ugly but at least it worked. This year we had another broken one and were about to do the same thing. My wife went on the Internet and found what appeared to be a complete set of compatible control knobs on AppliancePartsPros.com and ordered them. My expectations were low. The order showed up quickly and the set of knobs looked and fit great. Someone who didn't know what we did would be hard pressed to believe they were not original equipment, There were a couple of additional knobs to accommodate variations in the stoves that fit the knobs. For example, one knob that is BROIL-OFF-BAKE and another that is BAKE-OFF-BROIL. The funny thing is that there was one knob that the set did not cover. I originally thought that this was a problem but wasn't concerned because I never really expected a perfect match up. Still, I was way ahead of the game. As I looked closer I discovered that the knob on the stove was actually the wrong knob from a different stove and that I did indeed have the correct replacement. This was one of those rare cases where there was complete satisfaction with the purchase. From now on this will be our first stop for appliance repair needs. 4 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes
