I managed to uninstall the bad bulb by turning it counterclockwise by hand. When the new bulb arrived, you can imagine my elation. After quickly reviewing the instructions, I decided to go my own route. I looked over the receptacle and figured out my course of action. I put the new light bulb in the hole, but this time i turned it clockwise. After about 4-5 turns I felt the resistance in the threads and figured I should stop before I break something. Then came the moment of truth. I hit the "on" button on the microwave and the light lit up! Project complete! Thank you appliance parts pros!
