After some internet research I knew the problem was either the electronic control board just inside the panel or the panel itself. I ordered a new control panel. After taking out only six screws and looking at the plastic tabs holding parts in place I was able to easily univ the ribbon wire, connect the new control panel and put the six screws back in. The dishwasher runs like new.
