Our GE washer was acting up. The wash cycle would finish but the clothes were not clean. I thought maybe the whole tub wasn’t spinning so I checked the belt first. It was fine. After watching some videos and trying to narrow down the actual symptoms, I diagnosed it as a problem with the agitator which was spinning freely. I came across a comment that mentioned that very large loads, or which we’re guilty, can cause the agitator to strip out. I bought a new agitator and the bolt that holds it in. The old bolt was very corroded and rounded off as I tried to remove it. I used a bolt extractor kit to get it out. The new agitator and bolt arrived VERY quickly and went in without an issue. Problem solved.
