Samsung top load washer, about 3 years old started throwing a DC error code more and more often. Initially started with large loads. Wash would get to spin cycle, start wobbling all over the place, stop and refill then try again. Eventually it would stop and throw the DC code. As time went on, the size of the loads got smaller and smaller.
Research here indicated that suspension rods probably need replacing. I bought 4 rods for replacement for about $90 in total inc. tax & shipping. Replacement was simple, just follow the video instructions.
Only problem I had was the rear right side rod - the one that has the tubes attached. The tubes were not only clipped into place, but wrapped around the rod and also taped together. Had to break the tape in order to snake the rod through. I also found that rod harder to remove. All the other rods came out easily as the bushings came out as I pulled the rods. The bushing on this rod, however, did not want to easily lift out of place. The rod had grease on it so I used pliers to grip it and lift up with one hand and a flat head screwdriver in the other to lift the bushing out of place. Would have been simple with a helper, but harder by yourself in a cramped space.
After replacing suspension rods there was an immediately noticeable difference. Prior to replacement, I could push the drum down with my hand easily. After replacement, drum was firm.
Ran a load of towels on rinse and spin, and at first it seemed that the problem was MORE pronounced. I decided to run it just as a normal wash and it ran fine. So it might have needed a run to calibrate itself. I've since run several large loads that would have given me problems before without any issue.
Seems fixed. Still disappointed that the machine only lasted 3 years before such an important part failed.
