After removing the bottom panel of the dishwasher, I found there were two cables connected by two springs, and that these create the tension and resistance on the door when opening it. One of the cables was broken. I ordered two new cables. For less than $25.00 and ten minutes of my time, I was able to fix the problem the door falling open.
