I wasn't sure if the problem was going to be the key pad or the electronic control board, so I ordered both parts. The key pad fixed the problem, so I will be returning the control board. I had a bit of concern because I wasn't sure how the ribbon cable connector worked, but it turned out to be pretty easy. You slide the top part of the connector back along the axis of the ribbon cable to take it apart. Insert the ribbon cable from the new key pad and just snap the connector back together. No tools required for the connector.
