My Frigidaire DW periodically stopped mid-cycle before the detergent door opened. I could hold the cancel button for 3 seconds, the water in the tub would drain and then I could start a new cycle. This would happen every few days. After about two months, it quickly worked completely. There were lights on the controls and I could hear switch click sounds when I would press the Start button, but the DW would not run.
I talked to APP and others about the issue. The general opinion was the main board needed to be replaced. I also saw in my research it could be the thermostat, the door latch, and/or the control button board. I bought all four parts to be safe.
I replaced the main board and the DW did exactly the same thing. As I was swapping the original board back in, I noticed the white pair of wires going into the door latch were darkened. I moved the four wires going into the door latch and noticed the plastic connectors plugged into the latch made a crunching noise when wiggled. I took the latch off and found the wires and white plastic connectors to the latch were burnt and melted in places. Obviously, there was a short. I used the new latch part kit to fix the issue. The kit comes with new wire terminals and heat-shrink insulation. I cut off the original, burnt wire connectors, and a bit of darkened wire, crimped on the new terminals, used a heat gun to put on the insulation and reassembled the DW door. That solved it and the DW is operating normally.
