After 4 years of heavy use nearly all of the facia assembly's plastic attachment tabs were broken. This caused the facia to pull away from the door while trying to open the dishwasher. I ordered a replacement facia from appliancepartspro.com ($52 with shipping, part arrive in one day!) and installed it in about 30 minutes.
The job would have gone quicker had I not transferred the 6 button covers from the old facia to the new in random order. It turns out each button has a unique depth, and thus both the buttons and facia are subtly labeled "B" thru "G". After removing the new facia and correcting the button order the repair was complete. The new facia feels very solid when opening and closing the door. Hopefully this facia lasts longer than the original.
Only tool required was a star wrench.
