I ran my dishwasher overnight to find the next morning that the heating element had been on all night and that all of the plastic utensils in the load had melted. After some poking around, I determined that the heating element was turning on whenever the door was shut. I also notices that when I hit "Normal Wash" all of the washing options were lit (including Sanitize and Steam Clean). After replacing the controller board, my dishwasher works normally. The heating element only runs when it's supposed to. Now I'm confident that my dishwasher won't burn my house down.
