This was probably the easiest repair I performed on any appliance in my house. Pulled the dishwasher out, unscrewed the side cover panel (4 screws - 2 in front, 2 in back) and replaced the broken hinge cable assembly. Since I had the dishwasher out already, I checked the other side and discovered that the nylon cord on that side was starting to fray as well so replaced that one too. Depending upon the clearance and dishwasher model you may not need to remove all four screws and may have sufficient room to replace the assembly by removing just the front screws on the side panel (I was able to do that on one side).
