I searched this site for the right part on a Sunday when customer service was unavailable. Even though I had the make and model number of my Whirlpool side by side refrigerator and ordered the recommended part it was not the right one when I received it. I had to send this part back and with the help of the chat feature on the web site I ordered the "right" one. This resulted in me paying about $9.00 for the original part shipping and $15 to USPS to return it. So be careful, there are many parts that look similar and I would recommend that you check with customer service to ensure you're getting the right part the first time.
The actual repair went fine, easy removal of the old ice maker and reinstalling the new one. You'll have to transfer some parts from the old ice maker to the new one on this model. I had to switch the bail, the end cover and the water inlet funnel.
