I have a GE French door style fridge with an icemaker in the refrigerated portion. One day noticed the auger making a loud noise and saw ice cubes that appeared to be partially melted then froze again into a solid chunk of ice. After searching this site I checked the common things like was the fan behind the icemaker running (yes) did the ice shoot flap close all the way (yes) was there leaking noticeable during a filling cycle (no). The cheapest fix I could come up with was changing the thermalcouple but twice hours later I had the same issue. I replaced the whole unit with this piece in five minutes and for 5 days now I've got ice cubes and no melting! I assume the original assembly was leaking somewhere closest to the door and that water was temporarily melting the cubes in the tray until it got cold enough to freeze into a block. The whole icemaker assembly is a little pricey but I'm glad I have the issue solved and that it wasn't the circuit board!
