Replaced the wire harness that includes the 5 switches on the gas valves. Note that the old switches were rated at 125 volts, while the voltage is actually stepped up to 240. So the switches were destined to fail due to improper design or manufacture.
The new switches are labeled for 250 volts, hopefully they are designed for it.
