Turned OFF the CIRCUIT BREAKER for the RANGE at home electric control panel. Checked RANGE to verify power to entire RANGE was OFF by observing that control panel and OVEN lights were OFF and no burner operation. Covered GLASS COOKTOP of range with cardboard or other protective material to avoid accidental breakage during repair. Removed knob from infinite control switch by firmly pulling UP. Carefully removed switch retaining nut and insulating washer, by using an adjustable wrench. Removed (3)three attaching screws beneath front control panel. Carefully lifted the control panel FRONT EDGE at a 45 degree angle to remove infinite switch. It is possible to completely separate the control panel from the RANGE .......BUT .......because of the glass "edge seal" between the cooktop and the control panel, forcing the panel UP beyond 45 degrees may CRACK the COOKTOP GLASS.
PLEASE READ and FOLLOW the excellent instructions provided with the SWITCH, and TRANSFER only ONE WIRE at a time to the appropriate position on the NEW SWITCH. Attach the "SHORT WIRE" provided with the switch to the TWO terminals as described. Carefully reposition the switch back into the control panel making sure to properly engage the two raised metal guides on the top surface of the switch, into the corresponding NOTCHES in the underside of the control panel. This will require CAREFULLY rotating the switch into the proper alignment without dislodging the wires, while seating it into the NOTCHES. Replace the insulating washer and retaining nut and tighten firmly. Lower the control panel into its original position. Replace the (3) mounting screws. Restore power to the range by turning the CIRCUIT BREAKER back on, and enjoy the correct operation of your RANGE.
