Dennis H Bridgeton , NC January 10, 2015 Appliance: Frigidaire Laundry Center FEX831FS4 Frigidaire Washer Dryer Combo Fex831fs4: The locking mechanism would not release the lid had to break it to open. How to replace Washer Lid Lock Switch. 1) Ordered part. 2) Removed front panel by loosening the two screws at the bottom front. 3) Removed old Safety Switch/Lid Lock by disconnecting wires (plug and 2 female disconnects) 4) Reconnected all wires and reinstalled switch. 5) Replaced front panel. 6) Tested Unit. 7) FYI - I found that the locking mechanism stays locked until cycle completely finishes on its own.
