My Whirlpool washer was purchased in February 25, 2002. After many years of service the lid switch failed. Disassemble was slighly different from what was shown on the video, but not diffucult. Once disassembled it took me about 10 minutes to install the new part. The hardest part of the whole process was cleaning the apppliance parts not normally accessable after 12 years of use. Basically, hot soapy water took care of the problem.
I reassemled the washer and tested it by running it through two (2) complete cycles without any clothes in the tub. The washer functioned perfectly, after the through cleaning and with the new part installed it runs just like it did when new.
Yes, I would recommend this simple DIY part replacement.
