After researching on line I was able to narrow down the problem to either the cold water of hot water fill valve. These valves are electronically controlled and can go bad thus causing the washing machine to not fill properly. Nf stands for "no fill". I replaced the cold water valve first which was held by two screws and a couple of wires. It literally took me 5 minutes to replace the part. As soon as I started the wash cycle I could tell I had fixed the problem because the humming noise that the valve made was gone and the water flow into the machine was very different. I'm amazed at how many large appliances get thrown away that are probably completely repairable.
Everytime I do one of these repairs it makes me want to open a appliance repair place because these guys are rolling in the dough with the prices they charged for diagnostics ,parts, and labor.
The best part of my story is that this washing machine and dryer set were given to me free of charge.
If I wanted to I could turn around and sell them for at least a thousand dollars.
My next fix is the dryer which will either be a thermal fuse or a heating element.
Thanks a million to AppliancePartsPros.com for making this so easy
